Ingredients
  

For the Cake:
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 tsp cinnamon adds a warm flavor
For the Milk Mixture:
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk 14 oz
  • 1 can evaporated milk 12 oz
  • 1 cup half-and-half
For the Whipped Topping:
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for sweetness
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract enhances flavor
  • to taste Cherries for garnish

Method
 

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix with the ingredients listed on the box. Don't forget to add the 1 tsp of cinnamon.
  2. Step 2: Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish and bake according to the package instructions, about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  3. Step 3: Let the cake cool in the pan on a cooling rack for about 10-15 minutes.
  4. Step 4: In a bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and half-and-half.
  5. Step 5: Poke holes in the cooled cake and pour the milk mixture evenly over it, allowing it to soak in. Let it sit for about 30 minutes.
  6. Step 6: Combine heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Whip until stiff peaks form.
  7. Step 7: Spread the whipped cream over the soaked cake. Smooth it out or create peaks.
  8. Step 8: Garnish with cherries and serve chilled.

Notes

  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for 3-5 days.
  • This cake tastes better the next day after soaking.
  • For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free cake mix.
