Instructions:
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix with the ingredients listed on the box. Don't forget to add the 1 tsp of cinnamon.
- Step 2: Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish and bake according to the package instructions, about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Step 3: Let the cake cool in the pan on a cooling rack for about 10-15 minutes.
- Step 4: In a bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and half-and-half.
- Step 5: Poke holes in the cooled cake and pour the milk mixture evenly over it, allowing it to soak in. Let it sit for about 30 minutes.
- Step 6: Combine heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Whip until stiff peaks form.
- Step 7: Spread the whipped cream over the soaked cake. Smooth it out or create peaks.
- Step 8: Garnish with cherries and serve chilled.
Notes
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for 3-5 days.
- This cake tastes better the next day after soaking.
- For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free cake mix.
