Preparation Steps:
- Start by placing the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap. Use a meat mallet to pound the chicken to about 1-inch thickness.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, MSG (if using), black pepper, and paprika. Mix well until all the spices are evenly distributed.
- Drizzle the canola oil over the chicken breasts, ensuring they are well coated. Then, brush the melted butter onto both sides of the chicken. Sprinkle the herb mixture generously over each side of the chicken, pressing it gently to adhere.
- Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a little canola oil. Allow the oil to heat until shimmering, but not smoking.
- Carefully place the herb-coated chicken breasts in the heated skillet. Let them cook for about 6-7 minutes on one side, until golden brown. Flip the chicken and cook for another 5-6 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Once cooked, remove the chicken from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top and garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the chicken is pounded evenly for consistent cooking.
- Monitor the cooking time closely to avoid overcooking.
- Let the chicken rest after cooking to retain its juices.
- Fresh lemon juice enhances the flavor significantly.
