Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil high-quality
  • 2-3 tablespoons Butter for cooking
  • 1 pound Yukon Gold Potatoes quartered
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 2-3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 pound Sirloin Steak well-marbled
  • 2 teaspoons Steak Rub

Equipment

  • Skillet or cast-iron pan
  • Spatula
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Meat thermometer

Method

  1. Start by washing and quartering the Yukon gold potatoes.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the quartered potatoes with olive oil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Toss until they're well coated.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the seasoned potatoes. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and tender. Add minced garlic during the last few minutes of cooking for extra flavor.
  4. While the potatoes are cooking, pat the sirloin steak dry with paper towels and season both sides with steak rub or salt and pepper.
  5. In another pan or using the same skillet after the potatoes are done, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add the steak and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
  6. Once cooked, remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for about 5 minutes.
  7. Plate the potatoes next to the steak, drizzling any remaining pan juices over the top. Enjoy your hearty steak and potatoes meal!

Notes

  • For a great sear, make sure your skillet is hot enough before adding the potatoes.
  • Resting the steak is crucial for juicy results.
  • You can use ghee or plant-based butter for a dairy-free option.
