Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients. Grate the Gruyere cheese, chop the fresh dill, and zest the lemon. This will make the assembly process smoother.
- Take two slices of bread and layer one side with half of the grated Gruyere cheese. On top of the cheese, place slices of smoked salmon, sprinkle with lemon zest and fresh dill, then finish with the remaining Gruyere cheese. Top with a second slice of bread.
- Spread butter generously on the outside of both slices of bread. This will give your grilled cheese a beautiful, golden-brown finish.
- Preheat your skillet or griddle over medium heat. Allow it to warm up for a few minutes before adding the sandwiches.
- Place the assembled sandwiches in the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown, then carefully flip and grill the other side for an additional 3-4 minutes. The cheese should be melted and the bread crispy.
- Once cooked, remove the sandwiches from the skillet. Let them cool for a minute before slicing in half. Serve warm and enjoy your gourmet Smoked Salmon & Gruyere Grilled Cheese!
Notes
- Use gluten-free bread for a gluten-free option.
