Instructions
  1. Step 1: Cook the Pasta - Begin by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cavatappi pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Reserve about ½ cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Sauce - In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  3. Step 3: Add Pesto and Cream - Stir in the basil pesto and heavy cream. Mix well to combine, allowing the sauce to simmer for about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Step 4: Combine Pasta and Sauce - Add the cooked cavatappi to the skillet with the pesto sauce. Stir gently to coat the pasta evenly, adding reserved pasta water if necessary.
  5. Step 5: Season and Serve - Season with salt to taste, serve hot topped with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
