Ingredients

For the Pancakes:
  • 1 cup Flour All-purpose flour works best for a light and fluffy texture.
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder This is the key ingredient for making your pancakes rise.
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar Adds sweetness to the batter.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Enhances the overall flavor of the pancakes.
  • 1 large Egg Provides structure and richness.
  • 1 cup Milk Use whole milk for a creamier texture or any milk alternative you prefer.
  • 2 tablespoons Butter melted, adds flavor and moisture to the pancakes.
  • 3 tablespoons Additional Butter for greasing the pan.

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Non-stick Skillet or Griddle
  • Spatula

Method

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Mix the Dry Ingredients - In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Use a whisk to mix them together until well combined.
  2. Step 2: Combine the Wet Ingredients - In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and melted butter. Ensure the butter is not too hot when adding it to avoid cooking the egg.
  3. Step 3: Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients - Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Gently stir with a spatula or whisk until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are perfectly fine.
  4. Step 4: Preheat the Pan - Place your non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add about 1 tablespoon of butter to grease the surface.
  5. Step 5: Cook the Pancakes - Once the pan is hot, pour about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake onto the skillet. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Step 6: Flip and Finish Cooking - Using a spatula, carefully flip each pancake and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Step 7: Serve Warm - Remove the pancakes from the skillet and keep them warm in a low oven while you cook the remaining batter. Serve with your favorite toppings like maple syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream.

Notes

  • You can prepare the dry ingredients in advance and store them in an airtight container.
  • Feel free to add chocolate chips, blueberries, or nuts to the batter for extra flavor.
  • If your batter is too thick, add a little more milk until it reaches your desired consistency.
