  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Sriracha to taste
  • 2 green onions chopped
  • Carrot, cucumber, and/or radish for serving

Equipment

  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cutting board and knife
  • Serving dishes

Method

Cooking Instructions
  1. Start by heating a large skillet over medium heat. Add the finely diced yellow onion and sauté for about 4-5 minutes, or until they become translucent and fragrant.
  2. Add the ground turkey to the skillet. Break it apart with your wooden spoon and cook until it’s browned all over, about 6-8 minutes. Season it with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Once the turkey is cooked through, sprinkle in the dried ginger, garlic powder, and ground coriander. Stir well to combine, letting the spices bloom in the heat for about a minute.
  4. Pour in the soy sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, sweet chili sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and sesame oil. Stir everything together and let it simmer for an additional 5-7 minutes.
  5. If you enjoy a bit of heat, drizzle in some sriracha to taste. Stir in the chopped green onions for a fresh crunch.
  6. Plate your Macro Friendly Korean Beef with sliced carrot, cucumber, and/or radish on the side. Enjoy your meal hot!

Notes

  • Ground turkey can be substituted with lean ground chicken or plant-based ground meat.
  • If out of beef broth, use water or vegetable broth.
  • Brown sugar can be swapped with coconut sugar or honey.
  • For a gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
