Ingredients

For the Dip:
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter For a rich, creamy base.
  • 1 cup onion chopped
  • 1 whole red bell pepper seeded and chopped
  • 1 cup celery chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 whole lemon juiced (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 36.5 oz. cans clams chopped, with juice
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (e.g., Tabasco or Crystal’s)
  • ½ teaspoon Kosher salt Enhances all the flavors.
  • 2 cups bread crumbs (Italian-style Panko crumbs are great!)
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese grated, optional

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Baking dish
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon or spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

Stepwise Method:
  1. In a large skillet, melt the 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the chopped onion, red bell pepper, celery, and minced garlic. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender and the onions are translucent.
  2. Stir in the chopped clams with their juice, lemon juice, hot sauce, and Kosher salt. Mix well and let it simmer for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  3. Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the clam mixture to a mixing bowl. Fold in the Italian-style Panko crumbs until everything is well combined. If you’re using Parmesan cheese, stir it in at this stage for added flavor.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the clam dip mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  5. Bake the dip in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly. This step is crucial for achieving that delightful crispy texture on top.
  6. Once baked, remove the dip from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with your choice of chips, toasted bread, or fresh veggies. Enjoy every bite of this Incredible Baked Clam Dip!

Notes

  • For a more intense flavor, let the clam dip cool slightly before serving to develop the flavors further.
  • Feel free to add other spices and herbs, such as Old Bay seasoning or fresh parsley, for an extra layer of flavor.
  • If you prefer a creamier dip, mix in some cream cheese or sour cream with the clam mixture before baking.
  • For added texture, consider topping the dip with extra Panko crumbs mixed with a little melted butter before baking.
