Ingredients

Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups cooked chickpeas (drained and liquid reserved)
  • 2 cloves garlic (peeled)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus more for drizzling)
  • to taste salt

Equipment

  • Food processor
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula
  • Serving bowl

Method

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Prepare Your Ingredients - Start by gathering all your ingredients. If you’re using canned chickpeas, open the can and drain the chickpeas, but make sure to reserve some of the liquid for later use.
  2. Step 2: Blend Chickpeas and Garlic - In your food processor, add the drained chickpeas and the peeled garlic cloves. Blend them together until they are broken down into smaller pieces.
  3. Step 3: Add Tahini and Lemon Juice - Next, add the tahini and lemon juice to the food processor. Blend again until the mixture is well combined.
  4. Step 4: Incorporate Olive Oil and Seasoning - While blending, slowly drizzle in the olive oil. Continue to blend until the mixture is smooth. If the hummus is too thick, add a spoonful of the reserved chickpea liquid to achieve the desired consistency.
  5. Step 5: Taste and Adjust - Taste the hummus and add salt according to your preference. You can also adjust the lemon juice or garlic levels if you want a bolder flavor. Blend again to combine.
  6. Step 6: Serve and Enjoy - Transfer the hummus to your serving bowl, drizzle with a little more olive oil, and garnish with your favorite toppings like paprika or chopped parsley. Serve with pita bread, fresh veggies, or crackers.

Notes

  • Hummus can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
