Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter softened, unsalted
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 large egg essential for binding
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour spooned and leveled
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 12 ounces chocolate chips semi-sweet recommended

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Silicone spatula
  • Baking sheet
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Mix in corn syrup, egg, and vanilla extract until combined.
  3. Step 3: In another bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until no lumps remain.
  4. Step 4: Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Step 5: Fold in chocolate chips using a silicone spatula.
  6. Step 6: Drop rounded balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving about 2 inches of space between each.
  7. Step 7: Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden and centers appear slightly underbaked.
  8. Step 8: Cool cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Chill the dough for 30 minutes for better shape.
  • Measure flour accurately to avoid tough cookies.
  • Keep an eye on cookies while baking to prevent burning.
