In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter and coconut or granulated sugar. Beat until light and fluffy.
Add almond butter, eggs, and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and maca powder (if using). Gradually add to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Once cool, slice into squares or rectangles and enjoy!
