Ingredients

  • 5 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 cup light soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons warm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Sriracha sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons red Thai chile or jalapeño, seeded and thinly sliced

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or fork
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Storage Container

Method

  1. Start by collecting all the ingredients listed above. This will ensure a smooth and efficient cooking process.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the rice vinegar, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, warm water, and sugar. Use a whisk or fork to mix until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  3. Next, stir in the sesame oil, Sriracha sauce, minced ginger, and minced garlic. Mix well to incorporate all the flavors.
  4. Finally, add the sliced red Thai chile or jalapeño. Give the sauce one last stir to ensure everything is evenly distributed.
  5. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if necessary. If you like it sweeter, add a bit more sugar. For extra heat, feel free to add more Sriracha or sliced chile.
  6. You can serve the dipping sauce immediately or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for later use. The flavors will meld beautifully as it sits, making it even more delicious.

Notes

  • Store the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For a gluten-free option, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • If you prefer a milder sauce, omit the Sriracha or reduce the amount.
