From Start to Finish: Garlic Shrimp Stir-Fry
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the light soy sauce, water, brown sugar, toasted sesame oil, chili sauce, and cornstarch until well combined. Set this aside as it will be used to flavor your stir-fry.
- In a large wok or skillet, heat 3 tablespoons of your chosen oil over medium-high heat. Allow the oil to become hot but not smoking.
- Add the minced garlic to the hot oil and sauté for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant. Be careful not to let it burn, as burnt garlic can taste bitter.
- Add the shrimp to the pan, cooking for about 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking. Once cooked, remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the red bell pepper, broccoli florets, snow peas, and bok choy. Sauté the vegetables for 3-4 minutes until they are crisp-tender and vibrant in color.
- Return the cooked shrimp to the pan with the vegetables, then pour the prepared sauce over the mixture. Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the shrimp and vegetables beautifully.
- Remove the stir-fry from heat and serve immediately. Garnish with sesame seeds, chopped green onions, and cilantro if desired. Enjoy your flavorful Garlic Shrimp Stir-Fry over steamed rice or noodles!
Notes
- Feel free to adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or less chili sauce based on your preference.
- You can substitute honey or maple syrup for brown sugar if desired.
- For a gluten-free version, use tamari in place of the soy sauce.
