Ingredients

For the Brownie Balls:
  • 1 box fudge brownie mix 18 ounces
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting
  • 3 cups chocolate melting wafers
  • 3 cups chocolate chips optional substitute
  • to taste sprinkles optional
Ingredients called for on the box:
  • 1 water
  • 1 oil
  • 1 eggs

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking dish
  • Spoon or spatula
  • Cookie scoop or melon baller
  • Double boiler or microwave-safe bowl
  • Parchment paper

Method

Instructions:
  1. Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the brownie mix box. Prepare your baking dish by lining it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the fudge brownie mix with the required ingredients (water, oil, and eggs) as per the box instructions. Mix until well combined and smooth.
  3. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for the time indicated on the box. Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool completely.
  4. Once cooled, crumble the brownies into a large bowl. The crumbles should be fine but not dust-like; you want some texture for your brownie balls.
  5. Add the chocolate frosting to the crumbled brownies. Mix well until the batter is moist and can hold its shape when rolled into balls.
  6. Using a cookie scoop or your hands, scoop out portions of the brownie mixture and roll them into balls about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Cover the baking sheet with plastic wrap and place it in the freezer for about 30 minutes. This will help the balls firm up, making them easier to coat.
  8. While the brownie balls are freezing, melt the chocolate wafers or chips. You can do this using a double boiler or in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  9. Once the brownie balls are firm, remove them from the freezer. Dip each ball into the melted chocolate, coating it completely. Use a fork to lift them out and let any excess chocolate drip off.
  10. Before the chocolate coating sets, sprinkle your favorite toppings on each brownie ball. This is where you can get creative!
  11. Place the coated brownie balls back on the parchment paper and allow them to set at room temperature or in the refrigerator until the chocolate hardens.

Notes

  • For a unique flavor, try adding mint extract or espresso powder to the brownie mixture.
  • These brownie balls can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature.
