  • 1/4 teaspoon fine-grain sea salt (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream

Method
 

  1. Gather all your ingredients. Ensure the unsalted butter is at room temperature for easier mixing.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the room temperature butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy and smooth, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Mix in the Nutella and vanilla extract, beating on medium speed until fully combined with no lumps.
  4. Gradually add the powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, mixing on low speed to avoid a sugar cloud. Once incorporated, increase the speed to medium and beat until fluffy.
  5. If the frosting is too thick, add the heavy whipping cream one tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is achieved.
  6. Add a pinch of sea salt to taste to enhance the chocolate-hazelnut flavor.
  7. Mix on high speed for about 30 seconds for extra fluffiness.
