Ingredients

  • 5 potatoes golden Yukon cut into wedges
  • 2.5 tablespoons olive oil
  • 0.75 teaspoon garlic powder or 3 cloves fresh garlic, grated
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt more or less to taste
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Equipment

  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Baking sheet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring spoons
  • Spatula or tongs

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). A hot oven is key to achieving that crispy texture!
  2. Wash and scrub your Yukon potatoes to remove any dirt. Cut them into wedges, making sure they are relatively uniform in size for even cooking.
  3. In a mixing bowl, toss the potato wedges with olive oil, garlic powder (or grated fresh garlic), kosher salt, Italian seasoning, and black pepper. Ensure all the wedges are well-coated with the seasoning mixture.
  4. Spread the seasoned potato wedges in a single layer on a baking sheet. Make sure they are not overcrowded to allow for proper crisping.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, flipping the wedges halfway through. They should be golden brown and crispy on the outside when done.
  6. Once baked, remove the wedges from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve them hot, and watch them disappear!

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, soak the potato wedges in cold water for 30 minutes before seasoning.
  • Experiment with different spices like paprika or Parmesan cheese for a unique twist.
  • Using fresh garlic will give a stronger flavor compared to garlic powder.
