Preparation Steps:
- In a food processor, combine the frozen shelled edamame, chopped green onions, low-sodium soy sauce, honey, freshly squeezed lemon juice, dark sesame oil, ground cumin, and salt. Pulse until the mixture is well combined but still slightly chunky for texture. Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary.
- Dust a clean surface with cornstarch to prevent sticking. Take a wonton wrapper and place about one tablespoon of the edamame filling in the center. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water, fold it over to create a triangle (or half-moon if using round wrappers), and press the edges firmly to seal. Repeat this process until all the filling is used.
- If you’re steaming, place the dumplings in a steamer basket lined with parchment paper (to prevent sticking) and steam for about 8-10 minutes until heated through. If you prefer pan-frying, heat a bit of cooking spray in a non-stick skillet over medium heat, add the dumplings, and fry them for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown, adding a splash of water to the pan and covering it to steam for a few minutes.
- Plate your Edamame Dumplings and serve them warm with your favorite dipping sauce. They pair excellently with a mix of soy sauce and a dash of sesame oil for a simple yet flavorful dip.
Notes
- For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free wonton wrappers.
- Replace honey with agave syrup for a vegan alternative.
- Add finely chopped vegetables like carrots or bell peppers for extra crunch.
