Ingredients

Filling
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese sharp
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 jalapeño finely diced
  • 1 package wonton wrappers
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • Frying Pan or Deep Fryer
  • Slotted spoon
  • Paper towels

Method

Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, grated cheddar cheese, Worcestershire sauce, and finely diced jalapeño. Mix well until all the ingredients are thoroughly blended.
  2. Take a wonton wrapper and place about a teaspoon of the cheese mixture in the center. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water, fold it in half to create a triangle, and press the edges to seal.
  3. In a frying pan or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. You’ll want enough oil to submerge the poppers for even frying.
  4. Carefully place a few poppers into the hot oil, frying for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Once all your poppers are fried, serve them warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Don’t overfill the wonton wrappers; they can burst while frying.
  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before adding the poppers to avoid sogginess.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
