Ingredients

For the Flatbread:
  • 3 cups plain flour (plus extra for dusting)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt (or natural plain yogurt)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil (or olive oil, plus extra for cooking)
  • 3/4 cup milk (divided)

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling Pin
  • Non-stick skillet
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

Directions:
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the 3 cups of plain flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder (if using). Whisk together until well mixed.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the plain Greek yogurt, vegetable oil, and 1/4 cup of milk. Stir until smooth.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Stir with a wooden spoon until a rough dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead it gently for about 1-2 minutes, just until it comes together. If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle a little more flour as needed.
  5. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
  6. Using a rolling pin, roll each ball into a flat circle, about 1/4 inch thick. Dust with flour as needed to prevent sticking.
  7. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add a drizzle of oil. Place one flatbread in the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through. Repeat with the remaining dough, adding more oil to the pan as needed.
  8. As you cook each flatbread, you can keep them warm by wrapping them in a clean kitchen towel.

Notes

  • Experiment with spices like cumin or paprika for added flavor.
  • For thicker flatbreads, roll them out to a greater thickness.
  • Store flatbreads in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Pair with dips like hummus or tzatziki for a tasty snack.
