Ingredients
  

For the Toffee:
  • 40-50 pieces saltine crackers
  • 1 cup salted butter
  • 1 cup light or dark brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup roasted pecans (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt (optional)
  • 1 cup crushed pretzels (optional)
  • 1 cup candies (optional)
  • 1 cup toffee bits (optional)

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Step 2: Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Step 3: Place the saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Step 4: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the salted butter and brown sugar. Stir continuously until it comes to a boil, then cook for 3-4 minutes without stirring until golden.
  5. Step 5: Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract carefully.
  6. Step 6: Pour the toffee over the arranged crackers, spreading evenly.
  7. Step 7: Bake for 5-7 minutes until bubbling and golden brown.
  8. Step 8: Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee and let sit to melt.
  9. Step 9: Spread the melted chocolate evenly. Add optional toppings if desired.
  10. Step 10: Let cool at room temperature for 30 minutes, then refrigerate for 1 hour to set.
  11. Step 11: Once set, break into pieces and enjoy!
