Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or olive oil)
  • 1 pound beef sirloin or flank steak cut into 2-inch strips
  • 1.5 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 each red bell pepper cut into strips
  • 1 cup matchstick carrots
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha
  • 0.25 cup green onions sliced
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds

Equipment

  • Wok or large skillet
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Measuring spoons
  • Spatula

Method

Directions
  1. In a bowl, combine the beef strips with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes while you prep the vegetables.
  2. In a large wok or skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Add the marinated beef to the hot pan in a single layer. Sear the beef for about 2-3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add the minced garlic, broccoli florets, bell pepper strips, and matchstick carrots. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the veggies are tender yet crisp.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Add the remaining soy sauce, sesame oil, and sriracha. Toss everything together and cook for another minute to heat through and combine flavors.
  6. Remove from heat, and stir in the sliced green onions. Serve the stir fry immediately, garnished with toasted sesame seeds on top.

Notes

  • For a different protein option, use chicken, shrimp, or tofu.
  • Feel free to swap in any veggies based on your preference.
  • Adjust the sriracha to control the spice level or use chili flakes instead.
