Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat the Oven - Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This will ensure that your brownies bake evenly.
- Step 2: Prepare the Baking Pan - Grease your 9x13-inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Step 3: Melt the Chocolate and Butter - In a double boiler or a microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsweetened chocolate and the butter together until smooth.
- Step 4: Mix Dry Ingredients - In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- Step 5: Combine Eggs and Sugar - In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Step 6: Add Melted Chocolate - Once the chocolate-butter mixture has cooled slightly, add it to the egg and sugar mixture. Stir until well combined.
- Step 7: Incorporate Kahlua - Pour in the ¼ cup of Kahlua coffee liqueur and mix until fully integrated.
- Step 8: Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients - Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients. Stir until just combined.
- Step 9: Fold in Walnuts - If you’re using walnuts, gently fold them into the brownie batter.
- Step 10: Pour and Bake - Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, smoothing it out evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Step 11: Add Extra Kahlua - Once out of the oven, brush the top with the remaining tablespoon of Kahlua. Allow the brownies to cool before cutting them into squares.
Notes
- Use high-quality chocolate and Kahlua for the best flavor.
- Be careful not to overmix the batter to ensure a tender texture.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
