Ingredients

  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts even in size for uniform cooking
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for searing the chicken
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream for the rich, creamy base
  • 1 cup chicken broth adds flavor
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice from one lemon
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder enhances garlic flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning blends of herbs
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese for cheesy flavor
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch for thickening the sauce
  • 2 tablespoons water to mix with cornstarch

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula or wooden spoon
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Small bowl

Method

  1. Begin by patting the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and sear for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from skillet.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add chicken broth, lemon juice, and Italian seasoning; stir to combine.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted.
  5. Mix cornstarch with water until smooth. Slowly add to the sauce while stirring. Simmer until thickened.
  6. Return chicken to skillet and coat in the sauce. Simmer for an additional minute to reheat. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use coconut cream instead of heavy cream.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
