Prep Time 15 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Servings: 4 servings
Course: Dip
Cuisine: Mexican

Ingredients

  • 4 units ripe avocados (they should yield slightly to a gentle squeeze)
  • 1 small purple onion (diced very finely)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3 units limes (juiced)
  • to taste Tabasco sauce
  • to taste sea salt flakes
  • to taste freshly ground pepper

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Fork or potato masher
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Citrus juicer
  • Knife and cutting board

Method

  1. Start by gathering all your ingredients on the counter. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a large mixing bowl. Dice the small purple onion very finely and set it aside.
  2. Using a fork or a potato masher, mash the avocado to your desired level of creaminess. Some prefer it chunky, while others like it smoother—it's up to you!
  3. Once the avocados are mashed, add 1 cup of sour cream and the juice of 3 limes. The sour cream will add richness, while the lime juice brings brightness and freshness to your Creamy Guacamole Recipe.
  4. Gently fold in the finely diced purple onion, ensuring it's evenly distributed throughout the mixture. This will add a delightful crunch and flavor.
  5. Now it’s time to season! Add a few dashes of Tabasco sauce for a kick, and sprinkle in sea salt flakes and freshly ground pepper. Start with a small amount and adjust to your taste.
  6. Transfer your creamy guacamole to a serving bowl. For an added touch, drizzle a little olive oil on top or garnish with extra diced onions or cilantro. Serve it with tortilla chips, veggies, or use it as a topping for tacos or burritos.

Notes

  • Always choose ripe avocados for a smooth texture. If they are too hard, they won’t mash well.
  • Adding lime juice not only enhances flavor but also helps prevent the avocado from browning.
  • Using a fork instead of a blender allows for more control over the texture.
  • Serve fresh for the best taste. Guacamole is best enjoyed the same day it's made.
