Instructions:
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s hot and ready for baking.
- Step 2: Grease your 9x13 inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Step 3: In a saucepan over low heat, melt the 4 ounces of butter and 1 ounce of baking chocolate. Stir until smooth, then remove from heat.
- Step 4: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and chocolate mixture with the Coca-Cola, shortening, vegetable oil, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk. Mix until well combined.
- Step 5: In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cocoa, and mix well.
- Step 6: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Step 7: Gently fold in the miniature marshmallows into the cake batter.
- Step 8: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Step 9: Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a cooling rack to cool completely.
- Step 10: In a medium saucepan, melt the 1/4 pound of butter. Stir in the 3 tablespoons of cocoa until smooth. Remove from heat and mix in the powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Step 11: Once the cake is completely cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top. Allow it to set for a few minutes before slicing.
Notes
- Ensure accurate measurements for the best results.
- For a richer flavor, use high-quality cocoa powder.
- Let the cake cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.
