Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar. Beat until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes).
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract. Beat until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture. Stir gently until just combined.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks.
  7. Drop rounded balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.
  9. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

  • Ensure butter is softened, not melted.
  • Chill the dough for 30 minutes for chewier cookies.
