Ingredients
  

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter cut into thin pats
  • 2 cans cherry pie filling 21 oz each

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease your 9x13 inch baking dish lightly with butter or non-stick spray.
  3. Pour the cherry pie filling into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  4. Evenly sprinkle the chocolate cake mix over the cherry filling.
  5. Distribute the pats of unsalted butter evenly over the cake mix.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze cut portions wrapped tightly in plastic wrap for up to 2 months.
