Ingredients

  • 40 g Unsweetened Cocoa Powder high-quality
  • 396 g Powdered Sugar sifted
  • 226 g Unsalted Butter softened to room temperature
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 30-45 ml Heavy Whipping Cream optional, adjust for consistency

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Electric mixer
  • Spatula
  • Sifter

Method

  1. Start by gathering all your ingredients. Make sure your unsalted butter is softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together the unsweetened cocoa powder and powdered sugar to ensure there are no lumps. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until it’s creamy and light, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Gradually add the sifted dry ingredients to the creamed butter. Mix on low speed until combined to avoid a powdered sugar cloud!
  5. Add the salt and vanilla extract, mixing until everything is well incorporated.
  6. If the frosting seems too thick, add the heavy whipping cream, one tablespoon at a time, mixing well after each addition until you reach your desired consistency.
  7. Your Chocolate Buttercream Frosting is now ready to be used! Spread it generously on your favorite cakes, cupcakes, or brownies. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Room temperature ingredients mix better for a smoother frosting.
  • For a deeper chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
  • Don't skip the salt; it enhances the overall flavor.
