Ingredients

  • 2 whole ripe avocados
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 6-8 tablespoons pure maple syrup adjust to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 ounces chocolate chips optional

Equipment

  • Food processor or blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula
  • Mixing bowl

Method

  1. Start by cutting the avocados in half, removing the pit, and scooping the flesh into your food processor. Make sure the avocados are ripe for the best texture.
  2. Next, sprinkle in the cocoa powder. This will be the heart of your frosting, so ensure it’s high-quality for the best flavor.
  3. Pour in 6 to 8 tablespoons of pure maple syrup. Start with 6 tablespoons; you can always add more later if you prefer it sweeter.
  4. Add the pure vanilla extract and salt. These ingredients will enhance the overall flavor of your frosting.
  5. Turn your food processor on and blend all the ingredients together until you achieve a smooth and creamy consistency. Scrape down the sides as needed.
  6. If you’re feeling extra indulgent, melt the chocolate chips and add them into the mixture. Blend again until everything is well combined.
  7. Give your frosting a taste. Adjust sweetness or cocoa powder if necessary, blending again to incorporate any additions.
  8. For the best texture, chill your Chocolate Avocado Frosting in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before using. This will help it firm up and make it easier to spread.

Notes

  • Use ripe avocados for the best texture.
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
