Directions:
- Step 1: Preheat the Oven - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easy removal later.
- Step 2: Melt Chocolate and Butter - In a medium saucepan, combine the 6 ounces of unsweetened baking chocolate and 12 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Melt over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth and glossy. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Step 3: Mix Wet Ingredients - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the 5 large eggs, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Gradually add the 2-1/2 cups of sugar and 1/3 cup of light corn syrup, mixing until well combined.
- Step 4: Combine Mixtures - Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring until fully incorporated.
- Step 5: Add Dry Ingredients - Gently fold in 1-1/3 cups of all-purpose flour, being careful not to overmix. The batter should be thick and fudgy.
- Step 6: Fold in Chocolate Chips - Add the 1/2 cup of semisweet chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of cherry-flavored chips to the batter. Use a rubber spatula to fold them in until evenly distributed.
- Step 7: Bake - Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Step 8: Cool and Slice - Once baked, remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Use the parchment paper to lift the brownies out of the pan and onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing into squares.
Notes
- Do not overbake to maintain a fudgy texture.
- Cool completely before slicing for clean edges.
- Consider using fresh cherries for a different flavor profile.
