Ingredients

  • 2 lbs lean ground beef (85% recommended)
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 whole white onion (diced)
  • 12 slider-sized Hawaiian rolls (1 package)
  • 12 (1 oz.) cheese snack bars (any flavor)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted, about 1 stick)
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (plus more for garnish)

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Skillet
  • Baking dish
  • Brush
  • Spatula

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the lean ground beef, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until well incorporated.
  2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced white onion and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until soft and translucent.
  3. Add the sautéed onions to the beef mixture along with Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard. Cook the beef mixture over medium-high heat until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally and place the bottom half in a baking dish. Layer half the cheese, the beef mixture, and the remaining cheese on top.
  5. Combine melted butter, kosher salt, brown sugar, and sesame seeds in a small bowl. Brush this mixture over the top of the sliders.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  7. Let the sliders cool briefly, slice into individual sliders, sprinkle with extra sesame seeds if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Customize cheese types like cheddar or pepper jack for variety.
  • Add bacon bits to the beef mixture for extra flavor.
  • For a spicy kick, include diced jalapeños or hot sauce.
  • These sliders are great for meal prep; make ahead and reheat easily.
