Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons unsalted butter or olive oil
  • 2 flour tortillas 10 inch burritos
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Equipment

  • Non-stick skillet
  • Spatula
  • Cutting board
  • Knife

Method

  1. Begin by placing your non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Allow it to warm up for a minute or two.
  2. Once the skillet is heated, add the 2 teaspoons of unsalted butter or olive oil. Let it melt and coat the bottom of the pan evenly.
  3. Carefully lay one of the flour tortillas in the skillet, ensuring it covers the surface area completely.
  4. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly across the tortilla.
  5. Gently place the second tortilla on top of the cheese-covered tortilla. Press down lightly.
  6. Let the quesadilla cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until the bottom tortilla is golden brown and crispy.
  7. Using a spatula, carefully flip the quesadilla over. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side.
  8. Once both sides are cooked to perfection, remove the quesadilla from the skillet and place it on a cutting board. Use a knife to cut it into wedges.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add sliced jalapeƱos.
  • Try different cheeses like Monterey Jack for varied flavors.
