Ingredients

  • 2 large boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 1 pound)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • 1.5 cups breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1.25 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1.25 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1.25 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Equipment

  • Cutting board
  • Chef’s knife
  • Three shallow bowls
  • Frying Pan or Deep Fryer
  • Paper towels

Method

  1. Begin by rinsing the chicken breasts under cold water and patting them dry with paper towels. Next, slice the chicken into thin strips, about 1 inch wide.
  2. In three separate shallow bowls, set up your breading station. In the first bowl, add the all-purpose flour. In the second bowl, beat the two eggs until well combined. In the third bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Take one chicken strip and dip it into the flour, ensuring it’s fully coated. Shake off any excess flour, then dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing the excess to drip off. Finally, coat it in the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. In a large frying pan, pour enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom, about 1 inch deep. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches around 350°F (175°C).
  5. Carefully place the breaded chicken strips into the hot oil. Fry them in batches if necessary. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Once all your Chicken Fries are fried and crispy, serve them hot with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

  • Ensure the chicken is patted dry to avoid soggy fries.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan while frying for optimal crispiness.
  • Test the oil temperature before frying for the best results.
