Ingredients

  • 10 ounce goat cheese log very cold for easier handling
  • 1/2 cup blue cheese crumbles optional, but recommended
  • 2 whole eggs beaten
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1 cup Frank’s Red Hot
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • to taste fresh greens to serve

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cooking Spray

Method

  1. Start by taking your cold goat cheese log out of the refrigerator. Use a sharp knife to slice the log into 1-inch thick rounds. Place them on a plate and set them aside.
  2. In one bowl, beat the two eggs until they are fully combined. In another bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs with the seasoned salt. If you’re using blue cheese crumbles, add them to the breadcrumbs for extra flavor.
  3. Take each slice of goat cheese and dip it into the beaten eggs, ensuring it’s well-coated. Next, transfer it to the panko mixture, pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumbs. Place each coated slice on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, drizzle it over the coated goat cheese slices, ensuring they get a nice golden crust when baked.
  5. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Once heated, place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the goat cheese is heated through and the breadcrumb coating is golden brown.
  6. While the goat cheese is baking, prepare your serving platter. In a large bowl, combine the baked goat cheese with Frank’s Red Hot sauce, gently tossing to coat each slice.
  7. Arrange the Buffalo Oven Fried Goat Cheese on a platter with fresh greens. Serve immediately while warm, and watch your guests dive in!
