Ingredients

For the Brownie Pie:
  • 1 9-inch unbaked homemade or store-bought deep-dish pie crust
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate coarsely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup dark brown sugar packed
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour spooned into measuring cup and leveled-off
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Vanilla or coffee ice cream (optional, for serving)

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Rubber spatula
  • 9-inch pie dish
  • Oven

Method

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Preheat Your Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures your Brownie Pie bakes evenly.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Pie Crust
If you're using a store-bought pie crust, place it in your pie dish and set it aside. If you're feeling adventurous, you can prepare your own homemade pie crust.
  3. Step 3: Melt Butter and Chocolate
In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter and chopped unsweetened chocolate together. Stir continuously until smooth and combined. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  4. Step 4: Mix in Sugars and Vanilla
Add the granulated sugar, dark brown sugar, and vanilla extract to the melted chocolate mixture. Whisk until well combined.
  5. Step 5: Add Eggs and Salt
Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the salt.
  6. Step 6: Incorporate the Flour
Gently fold in the all-purpose flour until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few flour streaks are okay.
  7. Step 7: Fold in Chocolate Chips
Using a rubber spatula, fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  8. Step 8: Pour into Pie Crust
Carefully pour the brownie batter into the prepared pie crust, smoothing the top with your spatula.
  9. Step 9: Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Step 10: Cool and Serve
Allow the Brownie Pie to cool in the pie dish for at least 15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm, preferably with a scoop of vanilla or coffee ice cream if desired. Enjoy every rich, chocolaty bite!
