Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread your favorite, like sourdough or whole grain
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 4 slices Tillamook Pepper Jack Cheese
  • 2 tablespoons green onions chopped
  • 3 tablespoons crumbled and cooked sausage your choice of breakfast sausage
  • ½ cup cooked hashbrowns
  • 1 piece fried egg

Equipment

  • Skillet or frying pan
  • Spatula
  • Knife
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. Begin by gathering all your ingredients. Chop the green onions and ensure your sausage is fully cooked and crumbled. If you’re using frozen hashbrowns, cook them according to package instructions and set aside.
  2. Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread. On the unspread side of one slice, layer 2 slices of Tillamook Pepper Jack Cheese, followed by the cooked hashbrowns, crumbled sausage, chopped green onions, and the fried egg. Top with the remaining 2 slices of cheese and place the other slice of bread on top, mayonnaise side up.
  3. Heat your skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the assembled sandwich in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese starts to melt.
  4. Using a spatula, gently flip the sandwich over. Continue cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes, until both sides are golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
  5. Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it rest for a minute. Slice it in half, revealing the delicious layers inside. Serve immediately and enjoy your Breakfast Grilled Cheese!
