Course: Appetizer
Cuisine: Mexican

Ingredients

  • 3 medium ripe Hass avocados
  • 1 cup diced red onion
  • 1 small jalapeño minced, seeds removed
  • 1 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 large lime juiced
  • 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Equipment

  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Mixing bowl
  • Fork or potato masher
  • Citrus juicer

Method

  1. Begin by cutting the avocados in half lengthwise. Carefully twist the halves to separate them. Using your knife, gently strike the pit to remove it. Once the pit is out, scoop the avocado flesh into your mixing bowl.
  2. Using a fork or potato masher, mash the avocado to your desired consistency. Some people prefer it chunky, while others like it smooth. It’s all about personal preference!
  3. Next, add the diced red onion, minced jalapeño, and chopped cilantro to the bowl. These ingredients add texture and flavor that are essential to the Best Guacamole.
  4. Squeeze the juice of one large lime into the bowl. This not only adds flavor but also helps to keep the avocados from browning. Sprinkle in the kosher salt and black pepper, and stir everything together gently to combine.
  5. Give your guacamole a taste. If you want more lime, salt, or spice, feel free to adjust the ingredients to suit your taste. Remember, guacamole is all about making it your own!
  6. Transfer the Best Guacamole to a serving bowl and enjoy it fresh with tortilla chips, tacos, or your favorite Mexican dishes.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container to prevent browning.
  • Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface for freshness.
  • Guacamole is best enjoyed fresh but can last in the fridge for up to 2 days.
