- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, mix the granulated sugar and vegetable oil. Add in the eggs, mashed bananas, vanilla extract, and buttermilk. Whisk until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
- Pour the batter into your prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and unsalted butter together until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and salt, mixing until smooth.
- Once cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly across the top of the cake.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas for maximum sweetness.
- Be careful not to overmix the batter.
