Ingredients

  • 1 cup Butter softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1 cup Mashed Ripe Bananas (about 2 medium)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips (mini chips are best)

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Loaf pan
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your loaf pan with butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, use a hand mixer or stand mixer to cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, add the mashed ripe bananas and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking soda. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the sour cream. Start and end with the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula. Be careful not to overmix; you want those delicious chocolate morsels evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing. Enjoy your Banana Chocolate Chip Bread warm or at room temperature!

Notes

  • Wrap leftovers tightly in plastic wrap for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze sliced bread in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.
  • Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a healthier option.
