Ingredients
  

For the Taco Bake:
  • 14-16 pieces hard taco shells
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 14.5 ounces Rotel tomatoes and chiles
  • ½ cup Mexican hot sauce (like Cholula)
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 2 cups pico de gallo

Method
 

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Preheat the Oven - Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Step 2: Cook the Beef and Onions - In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Step 3: Add the Seasoning - Sprinkle in the taco seasoning and Rotel tomatoes. Stir together and let simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Step 4: Mix in the Hot Sauce - Remove from heat and stir in the Mexican hot sauce.
  5. Step 5: Fill the Taco Shells - Place hard taco shells upright in the baking dish and fill with the beef mixture.
  6. Step 6: Add Cheese - Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the filled taco shells.
  7. Step 7: Bake it Up - Bake for about 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Step 8: Top with Pico de Gallo - Let sit for a few minutes, then top with pico de gallo before serving.

Notes

  • Brown the beef well for maximum flavor.
  • Don’t skimp on the cheese to keep everything together.
  • Experiment with different brands of taco seasoning for varied flavor.
