Preparation Steps
- Begin by mashing the avocado in a mixing bowl. Add the lime juice and freshly ground pepper, stirring until well combined.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). If your puff pastry is not already rolled out, use a rolling pin to gently roll it to about 1/8 inch thickness.
- Using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter, cut the puff pastry into squares, approximately 4 inches by 4 inches. You should be able to get about 12 squares from the two sheets.
- On each square, place a spoonful of the avocado mixture in the center, followed by a cube of mozzarella cheese.
- Fold each pastry square over to form a triangle, pressing the edges together to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for an extra secure seal and an attractive design.
- Place the assembled puffs on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg using a pastry brush.
- Bake the puffs in your preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are puffed up and golden brown.
- Once out of the oven, let the puffs cool for a few minutes before serving. Pair them with your favorite salsa for dipping.
Notes
- Don't overfill the pastry to prevent bursting while baking.
- Keep puff pastry cold for maximum flakiness.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
