Stepwise Method:
- Start by combining the brown sugar, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, grated ginger, lime juice, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes in a medium saucepan. Whisk the ingredients together over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved, and the mixture is slightly thickened. This should take about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This high heat will help caramelize the glaze on the salmon, giving it a beautiful finish.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup. Place the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet, skin-side down.
- Using a brush or a spoon, generously coat the top of each salmon fillet with the prepared glaze. Reserve some glaze for basting during cooking if you desire extra flavor.
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. For an extra caramelized finish, you can broil the salmon for an additional 1-2 minutes at the end.
- Once the salmon is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Serve the Asian Glazed Salmon with steamed rice or sautéed vegetables, drizzling any extra glaze over the top for an added punch of flavor.
Notes
- Maple syrup can be used instead of brown sugar for a different flavor.
- Hoisin sauce may be replaced with teriyaki sauce if necessary.
- This recipe is freezer-friendly; store glazed salmon for up to 3 months.
