Ingredients

  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1-2 tablespoons sugar (for topping)
  • ¾ cup sliced raw almonds

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Electric Mixer or Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Baking pan (9-inch round)
  • Parchment paper
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare your baking pan by greasing it with butter and lining the bottom with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter with sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs, almond extract, and vanilla extract to the mixture and beat until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients, stirring gently.
  5. Fold in the sliced raw almonds gently.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle sugar evenly on top.
  7. Bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the torte cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • You can refrigerate the batter for up to 24 hours before baking.
  • The torte can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • To freeze, wrap it tightly and it can last for 2 months.
