  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
  3. Add in the egg and almond extract, then beat until well combined.
  4. Sift together the flour and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually mix into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fold in the sliced almonds until evenly distributed.
  6. Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, then spread the batter evenly.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the warm bars, let them melt, and spread evenly.
  9. Cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes, then cut into squares or bars.
