Course: Frosting
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

For the Frosting:
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 1 pound powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk or more, as needed

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Electric mixer
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Frosting spatula or piping bag

Method

Method:
  1. Step 1: Cream the Butter - In a mixing bowl, add the softened butter. Use an electric mixer to beat the butter on medium speed until it becomes light and fluffy, usually about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Step 2: Add the Almond Extract - Pour in the almond extract and continue to mix until well combined.
  3. Step 3: Gradually Incorporate Powdered Sugar - Slowly add the powdered sugar, about one cup at a time, mixing on low speed to avoid a sugar cloud.
  4. Step 4: Adjust the Consistency - Add the milk, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until you reach your desired consistency.
  5. Step 5: Final Whip - Mix on high speed for an additional 1-2 minutes until the frosting is fluffy and smooth.

Notes

  • Make the frosting up to 3 days in advance and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  • Re-whip the frosting before using to restore its fluffy texture.
  • For longer storage, freeze the frosting for up to 3 months and thaw in the fridge overnight.
