Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup red bell pepper cut into strips
  • 1/2 cup sweet onion sliced
  • 8 ounces prepared pizza dough
  • 24 pieces mini pepperoni slices
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1 can cooking spray
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Rolling Pin
  • Mixing bowl
  • Silicone spatula
  • Cooking Spray

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by heating 2 teaspoons of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced sweet onion and red bell pepper. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender and slightly caramelized. Sprinkle in the garlic powder for added flavor and mix well. Once done, set aside to cool slightly.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the prepared pizza dough into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick. Make sure it’s even to ensure even cooking.
  3. Spread the sautéed pepper and onion mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough. Layer the mini pepperoni slices on top, followed by the shredded mozzarella cheese. Be sure to leave a small border around the edges to prevent the filling from spilling out.
  4. Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough over the filling, tucking it in as you go to create a tight roll. Pinch the edges to seal the Stromboli, ensuring none of the delicious filling escapes during cooking.
  5. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the rolled Stromboli seam-side down in the basket. Lightly spray the top of the Stromboli with cooking spray as well.
  6. Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and cook the Stromboli for about 10-15 minutes, or until it’s golden brown and the cheese is bubbling. You may want to check halfway through and rotate the Stromboli for even cooking.
  7. Once done, carefully remove the Stromboli from the air fryer and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice it into pieces and serve with warm pizza sauce for dipping. Enjoy your delicious Air Fryer Pepperoni and Peppers Stromboli!

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, simply omit the pepperoni and add more veggies.
  • Feel free to use store-bought dough or make your own if you have the time.
  • Make sure not to overfill the Stromboli to prevent it from bursting during cooking.
