Step-by-Step Instructions
- Start by heating 2 teaspoons of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced sweet onion and red bell pepper. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender and slightly caramelized. Sprinkle in the garlic powder for added flavor and mix well. Once done, set aside to cool slightly.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the prepared pizza dough into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick. Make sure it’s even to ensure even cooking.
- Spread the sautéed pepper and onion mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough. Layer the mini pepperoni slices on top, followed by the shredded mozzarella cheese. Be sure to leave a small border around the edges to prevent the filling from spilling out.
- Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough over the filling, tucking it in as you go to create a tight roll. Pinch the edges to seal the Stromboli, ensuring none of the delicious filling escapes during cooking.
- Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the rolled Stromboli seam-side down in the basket. Lightly spray the top of the Stromboli with cooking spray as well.
- Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and cook the Stromboli for about 10-15 minutes, or until it’s golden brown and the cheese is bubbling. You may want to check halfway through and rotate the Stromboli for even cooking.
- Once done, carefully remove the Stromboli from the air fryer and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice it into pieces and serve with warm pizza sauce for dipping. Enjoy your delicious Air Fryer Pepperoni and Peppers Stromboli!
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, simply omit the pepperoni and add more veggies.
- Feel free to use store-bought dough or make your own if you have the time.
- Make sure not to overfill the Stromboli to prevent it from bursting during cooking.
