Ingredients

  • 2 medium russet potatoes washed and dried
  • Olive oil spray
  • 1/4 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp finely grated Parmesan cheese not shredded

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Measuring spoons
  • Large mixing bowl

Method

  1. Start by washing your russet potatoes thoroughly under running water. Dry them completely with a clean kitchen towel. Once dry, slice the potatoes into thin strips, aiming for a fry-like shape.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, place the potato strips. Lightly spray them with olive oil, ensuring they are evenly coated. Add the chili powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and kosher salt. Toss the fries until they are well coated in the spices.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes. This step is crucial for achieving that perfect crispiness.
  4. Once preheated, place the seasoned fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to do this in batches. Cook the fries for about 15 to 20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  5. When the fries are golden and crispy, remove them from the air fryer and immediately sprinkle with finely grated Parmesan. Toss gently to combine, allowing the cheese to melt slightly from the heat of the fries.
  6. Transfer your Air Fryer Nacho Fries to a serving platter. Serve them warm with your favorite dipping sauces or toppings, and watch as they disappear!

Notes

  • For a sweeter flavor, substitute russet potatoes with sweet potatoes.
  • Experiment with different spices like cayenne pepper for heat or Italian seasoning for a herby twist.
  • Omit the cheese or use nutritional yeast for a dairy-free option.
