Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 2 medium Russet Potatoes sliced into 1/4-inch sticks
  • 2 tablespoons Extra-Virgin Olive Oil for drizzling
  • to taste Sea Salt for seasoning
  • to taste Fresh Herbs optional, try rosemary or thyme
  • to taste Chili Powder or Chipotle Powder for a spicy kick
  • to taste Dipping Sauces e.g., ketchup, mustard, mayo, or chipotle sauce

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Large mixing bowl

Method

Instructions
  1. Start by washing your russet potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt. Next, slice them into 1/4-inch sticks. Try to keep them uniform in size for even cooking.
  2. For extra crispiness, soak your potato sticks in cold water for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch and makes for a better fry.
  3. Once soaked, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel. This step is crucial because moisture will prevent them from getting crispy. Transfer the dried potatoes to a large mixing bowl, drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil, and sprinkle with sea salt. Toss until evenly coated. If you’re using herbs or spices, add them now!
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes. This ensures that your fries start cooking immediately and helps achieve that golden brown color.
  5. Place the seasoned potato sticks in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Depending on your air fryer’s capacity, you may need to do this in batches. Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning!
  6. Once your fries are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the air fryer. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces and enjoy the delightful crunch!

Notes

  • Slice the potatoes evenly for uniform cooking.
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer for optimal air circulation.
  • Experiment with different seasonings for unique flavors.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the air fryer for the best texture.
