Ingredients

For the Cabbage Steaks:
  • 1 head Cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons Melted butter or olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1/2 cup Shredded parmesan finely shredded
  • 1 tablespoon Dried parsley

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Mixing bowl
  • Brush or spoon

Method

Directions
  1. Begin by removing the outer leaves of the cabbage. Rinse it under cold water to remove any dirt. Place the cabbage on a cutting board and slice it into 1-inch thick steaks. You should be able to get about 4-6 steaks from one head of cabbage.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter (or olive oil) with Old Bay seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Mix well until all the ingredients are combined.
  3. Using a brush or a spoon, generously coat both sides of each cabbage steak with the seasoning mixture. Ensure each piece is well-covered to maximize flavor.
  4. Sprinkle the finely shredded parmesan cheese over the top of each cabbage steak, followed by a dusting of dried parsley for a pop of color and flavor.
  5. Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and let it preheat for about 5 minutes.
  6. Carefully place the seasoned cabbage steaks in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook them in batches. Air fry for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Once cooked, remove the cabbage steaks from the air fryer and let them cool for a minute. Serve them warm as a delicious side dish or a satisfying vegetarian main course.

Notes

  • For a lighter option, use olive oil instead of butter.
  • Feel free to experiment with different seasonings based on your preference.
