Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breast cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup Frank's Red Hot Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cooking Spray
  • Cooking tongs

Method

  1. Start by cutting your chicken breast into 1-inch pieces. This ensures that they cook evenly and stay juicy.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the buttermilk and the egg. Whisk them together until well blended.
  3. In two separate bowls, add the all-purpose flour mixed with garlic powder in one bowl, and the cornstarch in another.
  4. Take each piece of chicken and first dip it into the flour mixture, then into the buttermilk mixture, and finally coat it in the cornstarch.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  6. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and arrange the coated chicken pieces in a single layer.
  7. Cook the chicken nuggets for about 10-12 minutes, flipping them halfway through for even cooking.
  8. While the nuggets are cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat and stir in the Frank's Red Hot Sauce.
  9. Once the nuggets are done, transfer them to a large bowl and pour the buffalo sauce over them. Toss gently to coat.

Notes

  • For extra crispy nuggets, let them rest for 5 minutes after coating before air frying.
  • Adjust the amount of Frank's Red Hot Sauce based on your heat preference.
  • If you don't have buttermilk, mix 1 tablespoon of vinegar with a cup of milk and let it sit for 5 minutes.
